What do you think about the role of women during the American Revolution?
Women may not have been involved in the actual fighting during the Revolutionary War but they played very important roles in other ways. In addition to keeping the soldiers fed, they also served as nurses among other things. What are your thoughts about the role of women during the war?
Being a Soldier in the Continental Army
What kind of skill did it take to be a soldier in the Continental Army? Think of the drill exercises you did yesterday. What did you need to do in order to successfully complete each task?

Declaration of Independence

Here we are--at the brink of war. On July 2nd, Thomas Jefferson wrote our needs and feelings into a large document. The 2nd Continental Congress has met and voted to separate from Mother England. Now, on this day, July 4, 1776, the colonies and soon the world will know about our cries from independence. Colonists, loyalists or patriots, let all the others know your thoughts about such a huge and dangerous decision!

Boston Massacre and the Tea Party in the Harbor

People of Williamsburg and all of Virginia unite!!! The lobsterbacks have attacked the poor colonists of Boston. Paul Revere has made an etching to show the horror of the event. This is just another reason why we need to stand up against the king and his minions. We have come together and started a small uprising as the sons of liberty. We invite you to join our cause and stand up against this tyranny.
Today the Sons of Liberty have struck back against the lobsterbacks! We have taken tons of tea and thrown it into the harbor. If the king wishes to tax us for the tea, we will make sure that no one drinks it. That way no taxes will be paid! HUZZAH!! Virginian colonists we are calling you to action. Join us as members of the Sons of Liberty.
The Townsend Act and Quelling an Uprising
To pay for the cost of the French and Indian War, and keep up the protection provided by the Redcoats, the following items will be taxed one pound each:
* Use of the pencil sharpener (no you may not use your pencil sharpener)
* Any classroom supply (paper, scissors, pen, tape, staples, paint, glue, etc.)
* Use of the drinking fountain or sink
* Use of the restroom
As your king, I think this is a fair and just tax.
Now, on to more serious matters. For those of you living in Boston, the treasonous act that was carried out in Boston Harbor will not be tolerated. The criminals who are responsible will be caught and brought to justice. I have dispatched a regiment of Redcoats to Boston to restore order among its citizens. Anyone who opposes a British soldier will be hung from the gallows!

What do you think about the sugar tax? What about the stamp act? Here in Boston, they are not very popular. Please share you thoughts about this matter.
