Taxation

What do you think about the sugar tax? What about the stamp act? Here in Boston, they are not very popular. Please share you thoughts about this matter.

    I would like to remind all of my loyal subjects of how much it costs to protect the colonies from foreign attack. It is necessary for the colonists to pay for their own defense from the Spanish to the south, the French to the north, and the indians to the west. I would expect all of my subjects to be happy to pay a small tax to their king!

    I think that we should pay the king taxes, because how do you think we are being protected? Could you see just how perfect the slaves and poor people will help protect if we don't have no army for protection!!! That gives you a little some thing to think about.

    I don't think that it is right that we have to pay for our sugar. It is like having to pay for any food in our household! They are just making taxes about everything now.

    I am so MAD?!?! We always need to pay taxes for Sugar,Stamps,Finds,and Deters prison.I am Samuel Henley and I deserve to have my rights.THE KING WON'T EVEN LET US DECIDE WERE TO LIVE!I DON'T like the king.Hey maybe he let us not have to pay for stamps anymore,but still it's to much to pay.I feel like a slave sometimes because of him.I know he is the king but he does not need to treat us like this.Please I would rather be a loyalist than a patriot.THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN!

    I think it is important to follow the rules of King George III (God save the king). He is our king and helps to keep us protected.

    Well i personally think that its not all that fair to be paying for what we eat .some people are lucky they even have money to pay for food and sometimes it has sugar in it so i disagree with that.

    Ok,you may protect us from the indians and whatnot but it doesn't mean you have to tax us for sugar,tax us for protection also just because I didn't have to pay for the stamp scam I still saw the people's anger in you king (god save the king).
    There going to rebel if you don't get your tax laws in place.Again,there is no reason for taxing us fr sugar or paper just because the redcoats are protecting us.You saw how mad they were when you made the stamp scam and we all know there is going to be more taxes more taxes=more angrier colonists.It's your choice.I stand for boston,the colonists and the colonies united.

    im still a loyalist but i hate the new townsend act and i get that he has to protect us but that is not a reason to tax us on things we use all the time like glass and tea he does not get it he owns every thing unlike us we have to work for a living i really wish he would revoke this tax but i still say

    I must point out (to all the rebels) that you should remember that the king is trying to save us! Dont hate him for protecting you. Sure you can be rebels but dont say such cruel things. If you are poor, a rebel, and say nasty stuff. You may go to jail! Your kids would be lost without. Think about it! He is protecting you. God save the king!

    Well for 1 I think King George III (God save the king) is going overboard with taxes. For 2 I think that it is outrageous to pay 1 pound for sugar and pretty much all supplies. For 3 why does King George III (God save the king) give us supplies when we just have to pay for them I don't get that.

    I know that there are a lot of people that are mad at the king right now but these are tuff times and with the money that we pay he is only keeping us safe.If we stop paying we will stop being protected.For some of use we have kids and I would like for them to stay safe.Do you get my point?

    I think the stamp act is fair because you can't send your paper without a stamp. I think the sugar tax is fair also because the king will use it for a good reason.
